The world of JULIANA

A realm to express myself. A reflection of experiences. A place where I can go on writing(typing) for hours until my thirst to tell a story in all its depth & details has been quenched and fulfilled.

Had a li’l argument with a friend on the definition of CUTE early this morning. You see, back during schooling days, we’d tease each other with self-created awful definitions such as , cute meant "ugly but adorable". However, listen up folks! Upon doin’ much ‘research’ on the net, I’ve discovered a whole new definition to the word and I totally love it! Here it goes :-

Definition of cute :attractive or pretty especially in a childish, youthful, or delicate way

Referrence site : http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=cute

Why we had an argument in the first place? ‘Coz one of my staff mentioned, " Doc when are you gonna have a baby? We can’t wait to see if the baby will turn out to be as cute as the mother or not" *winks. So, my friend insisted that if the baby did turn out ‘cute’ then, it’ll be a "ugly but adorable" baby lah. I suppose that was the driving-factor for my ‘research’ first thing in the morning. Now that the doubts have been cleared, time to get back to work. Have a nice w’kend folks!

Hey Juliana,

I actually looked up the meaning in the dictionary few years ago - and it really state that cute means ugly but adorable. Can’t remember which one, but i think it’s Oxford dictionary :) Don’t worry - we know when we use the word, it’s always a compliment and not the other around :)

Oxford dictionary arrr? Aiyooo…how depressing. They’ve certainly gotta REVISE these definitions as we evolve with time and technology, don’t you think, Bee Sim?? *Winks
